Traveling with Rhonda - Larry's Corner

Updated: Jan 4, 2021

My travels to California since I met Rhonda have been solo. They have been destination oriented. The destination being the goal. My home to hers.

I’ve driven to and from Cali twice on my own. Distance 1667 miles door to door. Both trips 24 hours of driving time, 35 hours total time with stops for fuel, food, bathroom and sleep. I usually only stop when I need fuel in 6-7 hours.

Well, I’ll tell you, with Rhonda it's very different. We have done a few short trips with the destination being the goal, Yosemite to climb Half Dome and Phoenix to spend Thanksgiving with her daughter Jill. WOW!! We have to stop at least every 2 hours, mostly restroom stops. This was a bit annoying until I realized it’s not just a restroom stop. The breaks are to look around, explore, have lunch at a table, not in the truck, and to chase some local wildlife. These stops on our first few trips to me, seemed way too long. They did however teach me to be much more patient in the future.

Our last trip from Hague, Saskatchewan, Canada to Rohnert Park, California, United States went very well. Yes, I had to pre-condition my thinking and told myself, “It would be at least a 3-day trip!” We made it in four days, Awesome!!!

I’ve learned something about myself. If I don’t have a destination, where I am at this Very Moment may be the destination, So enjoy it!

Our future travels will be one helluva an Adventure!!
